This weekend – The World Transformed, https://theworldtransformed.org/

Date: 9th-12th October
Location: Hulme, Manchester

British politics are on the move. Since the last TWT event in 2023, we have lived through seismic shifts in Britain and abroad. The future is not inevitable, nor is it out of our hands. Sometimes history needs a push.

Spread across venues in Hulme, Manchester, TWT25 will provide a core programme of talks, workshops and training on key areas, from workplace militancy to Palestine and anti-imperialism, from tenant organising to resisting fascism. And you may have heard there’s a new left party in the works – we should probably talk about that, shouldn’t we?

TWT25 will kick off with an Opening Ceremony at the Niamos Radical Arts Centre on Thursday, and go all the way through to our closing event on Sunday night. At the heart of the programme this year will be daily assemblies, designed to hold genuinely constructive debates about what we should do and how we should do it.

But our movement isn’t just about economics or political strategy – it’s also about building a vibrant culture that can sustain and express our vision for a better future. That’s why the cultural programme will offer music, performances and exhibitions to inspire and provoke, and to delight and entertain.

Most of all, TWT is where new relationships of solidarity and organisation are forged. International and national delegations from Trade Unions, tenant groups and movement organisations combine with independent activists, local organisers and the politically curious. Across four days, we gather in one place to socialise, debate and party – in short, to build the culture and connections required for us to win.

Podcast – ILLUMINATING WORLDVIEWS on Emotional Competency S1:1
https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/for-the-wild/id942809988?i=1000729677525

Over the past months, For The Wild has journeyed to the Yukon in partnership with Illuminating Worldviews. Illuminating Worldviews is a space for examining the worldviews in which we find ourselves and to learn how they actively shape the material realities of our lives. This project, rooted and colored by the land of the Yukon invites questioning, examination, and future visioning centered in Indigenous ideology and the sentiment of journeying.

In this conversation, Ayana is joined by Dr. Lee Brown and Elder Mark Wedge to discuss emotional competency and how we can regulate ourselves amidst all that this world brings. What does it mean to have a colonized heart? Is it to separate ourselves from our emotions? Touching upon the role of feeling in our overall wellbeing, they highlight how emotional regulation and connection are essential to the work of decolonization. This episode is a resounding testament to the healing that comes from embodiment and fully felt experience.

Evidence of welfare state violence: navigating tensions towards radical action
Suicide and Evidence Seminar Series

Date: 22nd October, online
Time: 3.00-4.00pm

The Deaths by Welfare project evidences the way the UK welfare system kills people, and how disabled people and bereaved families resist. The project navigates many tensions around evidence – which I’ll share in this session. These include questions around: what counts as evidence and who decides? What are we using evidence to do? Often we imagine that evidence of harm is a way to fight for government accountability. But what about when policies are harmful by design? And how do you evidence harm by design? We’ll explore tactics of evidence-making to explore the kind of impact we’re imagining – from tinkering at the edges of policy in ways that may ultimately reinforce the power and violence of the system, to asking what role evidence can play in shaping radical action, bearing witness, validating people’s experiences, and resourcing ourselves to move toward a collective strategy.

Its Madness North West: call for exhibition submissions
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSebVELrVpEORz9ka6AVdLg0NqcUw5tcCl1xohlFTuW_66ISRA/viewform

Its Madness North West is a space for people in the North West of the UK to submit and share artwork that reflects mental illness, resilience, and protest.

It celebrates art that challenges perceptions of disability, rebels against stigma, and honours individuality.

The North West, with its history of industrial labour, urbanisation, and social inequality, is a fertile ground for expressing working-class experiences, struggles, and resilience. Cities like Manchester and Liverpool have long traditions of political activism, including LGBTQ+ and disability rights campaigns, making the region a natural context for art that explores marginalisation, mental illness, and defiance against systemic oppression.

Artists in the North West often draw directly from personal and communal experiences of mental illness, social marginalisation, or institutional neglect, giving the region’s creative output a particular resonance with themes of protest, resilience, and identity.

Although Art is a useful source of therapy, this isn’t the space to be therapised, some of the content of this site may be distressing. Trigger warnings will be available when possible.

Its Madness North West was founded by Oliver Chadwick (DJ Chadman), an autistic interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker whose work explores trauma and identity. With a strong commitment to community engagement, Oliver is passionate about the power of the arts as a tool for advocacy, resistance, and self-expression.
